Call Ripley’s

Tuesday, June 26th, 2012

It’s a record, folks. I’ve written 5086 new words today. It’s absolutely a personal best — I’m pretty sure I hadn’t broken the 3K-word mark up until now.

I have a deadline I am bound and determined to meet, and I think if I can reach the goals I’m setting for the next few days the same way I reached today’s, I will meet it quite satisfactorily.

It’s amazing. I feel pretty pumped about this story, although part of me figures (as usual) that it’s complete Mule Puke ™.

I’ll keep you all posted on how it transpires.

Back To Work

Monday, June 25th, 2012

The weekend was essentially a giant WASH in terms of productivity. We had multiple birthday party-type celebrations (including one for Ms. Junior Peanut who is now TWO! Eep!), our (almost) annual Finnish Midsummer extended-family celebration called Juhannus, lots of BBQ, and I managed to finish up my new front-yard flower garden.

But did I work? Uh, that’d be a no. Instead, I ate enough food for about three people, got wind-burnt, sauna-ed and swam, and generally had a rollicking good time.

Perhaps that was best, after all. I may be exhausted, but it was a couple of days where my mind was taken off my work. I’ll have to slave like a dog to reach my last couple of deadlines, but I’m certainly going to do it. It *can* be done.

All right, Monday. I’m here. Are you ready for me?

A Decision

Tuesday, June 19th, 2012

For the first week of July, I am doing nothing more brain-taxing than sitting at my sewing machine. (Although this can occasionally be brain-taxing, it is a different kind of challenge than writing or other work. That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it.)

If I ever announce that I have this many projects all due at the same time again, someone please whack me with a wet noodle.

Repeatedly.

Now I am off to collapse in my bed until the alarm jars me awake WAY too early.

Niteoll.

My Demise As We Know It

Tuesday, June 19th, 2012

June may just defeat me.

I have a freelance project to finish, two novellas to finish, a family get-together and Ms. Junior Peanut’s birthday to deal with all before June 30th.

Today is the 19th, isn’t it?

Yup.

Check back on July 1st to see if I made it, okay? I’d appreciate knowing you care.

Weeeeell….that’s all I’ve got for now. (Isn’t that enough?!?) *sigh*

As you weren’t, folks.

Same Ol’, Same Ol’

Tuesday, June 12th, 2012

Plugging along. Freelance work, novella #1, novella #2.

The weather has cooled down fairly significantly, thankfully. Not that I dislike the hot weather — I just prefer a few degrees cooler, is all. Makes it easier to sleep, and all that.

I wish I had news for y’all. Still waiting on a verdict from publisher #2 on Party Starter. I’ll let you know when that news arrives.

Nothing else going on other than trying to enjoy my last couple of weeks sans the Offspring. School’s over at the end of the month, and then…heaven help us all. :P Two months can’t go by that slowly…can they?

Wait. Don’t answer that. *sigh*

*pout*

It is stinkin’ hot, and I’m sweaty and grouchy. Beware me, o puny mortals. ( I think that’s a sign of too much Avengers.)

On top of that, something is apparently blooming that my body doesn’t like because my allergies are making themselves clearly known.

*siiiiiiiiiiigh*

I really have nothing happy to say at this particular moment. I think I will go to bed and just lie there beneath the ceiling fan.

Tuesday!

Tuesday, June 5th, 2012

Yeah, I know. That title is useless.

Anyway.

As I am spending the day childless (elder at school, younger with grandparents) I have put together a simple plan (no, not the band).

  • Work on freelance project until noon.
  • Noon - 1:00pm: go for a 30-minute power walk around the neighborhood (as long as the weather holds!), eat leftover pizza, have a quick shower.
  • 1:00 - school dismissal time: work on current WiP.

After that, it’s supper, family time, etc., etc. I really want to start working on a Quiet Book for Ms. Junior Peanut, so if I can get some serious results with the work during the day, mayhaps I’ll treat myself to some crafting time tonight. The reward system works, doesn’t it??

Well, off I go. Have a shiny, happy Tuesday, gang!

Does This Sound Familiar?

Monday, June 4th, 2012

At random points throughout the day something will pop into my head and I’ll think, “Oh, I must look that up/research that on the internet later.”

And when “later” comes, I can’t remember a single damn one of those things.

It’s gotta be a function of age.
