Hump Day Hoo-Ha

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

Actually, it’s just a normal Wednesday around these parts.

(Or whatever *passes* for normal nowadays, but I digress.)

Revisions on Higher Learning have been sent to the Editor Extraordinaire, so that’s another checkmark on the list. I’ve got a couple of errands to run today, so I’m oot and aboot. And on top of that, I no longer feel like I’m going to hack to death (maybe now only until I pass out, or something less traumatic like that). Could good health be far behind? *snert*

Anyway. I guess I should get my bottom in gear this morning. I have to travel all the way over to the other side of town, so I need to get moving. I think when I get home it’ll be time for book planning. What’ll be next on the agenda?? I’ll keep you all posted!

Slogging Along…

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

Hey howdy, folks.

Just dragging my poor rump along, here. Edits on Higher Learning are taking me longer than expected, and combined with that, I’m having Spring Cleaning urges that I’m temporarily trying to ignore. Book must come first!

But I can’t help it…the weather is predicted to be bee-yoo-tee-ful for the remainder of this week — with a high of +21C on Friday! (A balmy 70F!) It’s really making me want to get rid of some winter griminess and clutter around this place. What I’ll probably end up doing is a bit of both — book work (ie. new projects) in the mornings and small chunks of cleaning in the afternoons — which will help get all jobs done.

Anyway. Now it’s back to edits, which I will hopefully finish today and get sent off to the Editor Extraordinare this afternoon (I hope!) and then we’ll see what I feel up to doing. Hope you’re having wonderful weather where you are!

And sadly, sometimes too, too, frighteningly true. :P

I finished the book I’d been reading yesterday afternoon, and as such couldn’t find anything I really wanted to read in bed last night. So instead, I pulled out a couple of my old notebooks to skim for potential story ideas. It was very interesting, because at least one story popped out at me as a potential new project, though I’m not sure where it’s going to go, or what’s going to happen with it (I’ve just got a setting and some characters and a really, really vague premise…). And there’s another that’s been on the back-burner, which is now looking for attention. Hm.

The part that gets me, though, is, I am so disorganized when it comes to ideas. I have lost track of how many notebooks I own where things are hastily scribbled down — to be truthful, I’m not even sure where all of those notes/notebooks are!

How do you other creative types do it? I know I should probably carry *one* single notebook around with me for those inspirational moments, but I never remember to do that. :( Dunno. Maybe one of these days I’ll figure out a better system.

Or maybe I’ll end up scrambling like this for the rest of my creative life. Who knows…?!?

*kaff* *kaff*

I may expire.

It appears that your Hostess With The Mostess has come down with yet *another* bug. (Thankfully this one does not involve being hunched over a porcelain basin. At least, I don’t think it will.) Damned compromised immune system!

I have suffered a wee bit over the last couple of days, but this afternoon it really hit me hard. I have the energy of a slug and a cough that rattles my bones. It really rather does suck. I’ll be going to bed early. Count on it.

If It’s Monday…

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

…it must be Moscow.

Or somethin’.

Well. Howdy, gang! Long time no see, I know. We at Clan Starr just experienced the phenomenon known as “March Break” wherein Offspring get a holiday from school. So yours truly spent the past ten days playing “mom” to the best of her ability. It involved lots of cookies and board games and craft-type activities.

As well it should.

Anyhoo. School is now back in, and we should be back to our normal routine, which actually involves the use of alarm clocks. (Who’d a-thunk it?!?)

In other news, the Carina Press contract for Lovely has been signed and returned, so it looks like it’s all official. :D I have my cover art and am now just waiting for the Other Editor Extraordinaire to work her magic with a line edit. The manuscript will come back to me for a review, then it’ll go for a proofread, and hopefully then — ta da! — it’ll be ready to go to publication! My task for this week, however, is to tackle the revisions First Editor Extraordinaire requested for Higher Learning. Shouldn’t take me more than a day or two to do them. Most changes are minor, with the exception of one change that will require a little bit of surgery. But completely doable.

Finally, in embryonic news, Junior Peanut continues to play the role of Mohammed Ali in my uterus. But I’m not complaining, because that means she’s active and reminding me frequently of her existence. *snort* (Like I’d forget.)

Anyway. Thanks for swinging by over the last few days even though I’ve been pretty quiet. (I can see you, you know!) I’m sure I’ll come up with some things to regale you with as the days go on. No promises, though.

I Have Seen It!

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

Oh, gang.

I absolutely can’t wait to be able to show you.

I’ve seen the cover for my Carina Press book, Lovely, and it made me totally giddy with excitement. It’s incredibly gorgeous!

*happy snoopy dance*

As I understand it, release date is sometime in June. More to come as events warrant. :)

March Break…?

Monday, March 15th, 2010

Oot and aboot today with a pair of offspring, lookin’ to get into mischief.

Well, no, not really. Just doin’ stuff to keep ‘em occupied on this break week.

(Although it’s not a break for *me*, I might add. I’ve got to squeeze in revision work somewhere in here. :P Oh, well. Your kids are only little once!)

Catch you on the flip side, gang!

Another Lesson

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

I should know better than to do a Google image search on something innocuous (pony clip art, for God’s sakes! You know, little cartoon horsies?!?) with Safe Search switched “off”.

I’m going to go bleach my eyeballs now.

Hoo Boy…

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

Well, folks, you won’t see me for a day or two (perhaps. Unless I need a break and post on the blog for a change of pace…) because not only do I have my edits to work on for Lovely, I also have revisions to work on for Higher Learning.

As the title says… Hoo, boy.

But I am hoping that the HL revisions will result in a sale — so stay tuned and I’ll keep you posted on how things transpire! 2010 is definitely shaping up in a way that I like…at least, thus far. Just gotta keep the momentum going!
