In A Cavern, In A Canyon…

Sunday, March 30th, 2008

This, folks, is what the world looks like at 6,800 feet below the Earth’s surface:

Want to hear more about my Journey to the Center of the Earth? I’m sure you do. Follow me…

Darkness Falls Across The Land…

Shuttin’ things down for Earth Hour.

Catch you on the flip side, folks!

Friday, March 28th, 2008

Tonight, folks, I get to slide around on a sheet of ice, throw rocks, and attempt to not fall on my ass (too many times).

That’s right–tonight we shall be partaking in the most excellent sport of Curling.

Tomorrow I shall be somewhat out of sorts for part of the day, because after a night of dinner, curling and the occasional grown-up beverage, I will need to get my tired li’l behind out of bed by 5:30AM. Yep, you read that correctly.

I shall have pictures to post, hopefully sometime tomorrow, so you’ll see just what I got to do! (Are you excited? I know you are! I certainly am!)

Catch you on the flip side! :)

Less Sleep, More Accomplishment

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

Mr. Einstein and I recently discussed the idea that wouldn’t it be great if we only needed four hours of sleep? That way, there’d be all this extra free time with which one might finally hack away at that damned To-Do List.

However, I am also fairly certain that those extra three to four hours would very quickly get frittered away doing whatever it is that seems to take up all the current free time.

Know what I mean?

I have decided it must be a time-management issue. Anybody out there have any good tips for improving time management? There must at least be a couple of you out there who have everything under control, yes?

If not, then let’s just crack open a bottle of vino here and simply bemoan the fact that there’s just too much to do, and not nearly enough time in which to do it. Eventually, I believe we might just get to the point where we don’t really care anymore… *g*

This weekend included:

  • an Easter egg decorating party
  • a bridal shower (not mine, just so you know!)
  • one big family dinner
  • a second big family dinner

I have to go to work to get a break. Think they’ll let me nap under my desk…?

“Just A Little Pinprick…”

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

Thursday is “Poke and Prod Kris Day” — though not in a good way, I’m a-feared.

I’ll be doing all my heart-related tests, and while I’m certain everything will be fine, there’s always that teensy element of paranoia, yanno? (Of course, that’s also the writer in me — always jumping to the worst-case scenario…)

Anyway. I shall keep you posted. Stay loose.

Kiss Me, I’m Irish…

…at least, for today, anyway. :)

Happy St. Patty’s day, everyone. Hope you enjoy your green beer!

(No, none for me, thanks. Yeesh. The “hair of the dog” thing doesn’t work for me…)

Demon Vodka, Redux

Sunday, March 16th, 2008

Death would likely be pleasanter than this.

Why, oh why must I answer the siren call? (I know, I know. I am my own Liquor Control Board.)

But damn, it was fun while it lasted. :)

(Yes, that’s a real word. I said so.)

Stumbled across this site — very cool cooking tips and recipes, plus he’s giving away an iPod… Go check it out!

Did you all hear that the last Harry Potter movie — Deathly Hallows — is being split into two movies?!? I think it’s great, in that they’ll be able to fit more of the actual story into the films… but at the same time, it’s quite the cash grab, innit? Hmm….

* * *

I rented Across the Universe and Neverwas today (I hope I’ll have time to watch both before they need to be returned… :P ) I’m already excited about AtU (I’ve heard good things about it), but I’d never even heard of Neverwas — it was a random pick off the shelf — so we’ll see. The plotline is intriguing, and I’m very forgiving when it comes to movies, so I’m confident it’ll be a good use of two hours. (Er…two hours alone, that is. Heh.)

Well, folks, that’s about all I’ve got at the moment. We hit a lovely high of +5C today — the snow was melting! — and I hung my comforter and blankets outside to freshen, so now I’ve got to go rescue them, and figure out what I’m going to make for supper. Catch you all on the flip side, gang!

How Much Was The Prius Again…?

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

Gas prices here have jumped overnight to a shocking $1.16/litre — that’s $4.41/gallon for those of you south of the border.

I’d walk to work if it wouldn’t take me 3 hours one way… Or I’d bike, but there are two problems with that — a) there’s still snow and ice on the ground and b) the office does not have shower facilities, and I’m pretty sure my co-workers wouldn’t be too thrilled with me after the first day of the new commute.

Oh, well. This will be a fair factor in the 08 New Car Debate…
