irrelevant (and sometimes questionable) ramblings

I really, honestly didn’t think I’d be posting anything about this so soon, but there you go.

I’ve been battling a slight headache today, so this evening I went to the cupboard to grab a couple of Tylenol.

The child-safety lid was off the bottle.

The last person to take Tylenol was me.

I know I put the lid back on properly — hey, I’ve got a kid in the house. The last thing we need is an accidental overdose, so I’m careful about things like that.

And, I’ve been alone in the house for 36 hours. There’s been no one else around to take the pills.

Your guess is as good as mine, folks.

Anyway. I’m back to doing work. As you weren’t.

Oh, wait. Wrong.

Sorry, gang. I’ve got nothing today. I should be seeing Mr. Tall this weekend, and I’ve got a zillion things to do before that.

So why am I here blogging?

Well, at least you’ll know why I’m not around over the next few days… Heh.

Don’t mind me… I’m looking for ways to procrastinate. Three-quarters of Clan Starr are on the road today, and I’m one big knot of anxiety. And I will continue to remain so until they safely reach their destination.

I may update this post with more useless quizzes and trivia as the day wears on…

I’m stealing this from good friend Rhonda Nelson, who has this feature regularly on her blog. (Hi, Rhon! Glad you’re home safe and sound! )

Here’s what I’m whining about today:

1) It’s hot. And I realize I shouldn’t be complaining, because only too recently it was -25C here in Northern Canuckland (okay, yes, that was a few months ago, but you don’t forget that kind of thing easily!), but me and humidity just don’t mix very well. Uck.

2) Instead of hanging out somewhere cool and comfy on said day like today, I am cleaning. Double uck. And the fact that this is going to be a whole-day job — triple uck.

3) Our pool is not up. While this decision was made some time ago, I have resigned myself to this fact. However, it is of no consolation as the mercury rises. Quadruple uck.

4) The final indignity: our gazebo was supposed to be erected prior to this weekend. Now it turns out that this will not happen. I am not amused. I was hoping to spend time in it before I depart on my travels (reading and working and enjoying a bug-free, outdoor environment), and now this won’t happen. Quintuple uck.

*sigh* Oh, well. Tomorrow is yet another day, and life should be infinitely better. I hope.

So tell me, gang… what are you whining about today? Feel free to get it off your chest!

Agree with me or not, but it does a heart good to see a very kind, generous soul find the sort of happiness you know that person deserves.

It’s a good thing. It is. And in one’s less jaded moments one might think that the universe is functioning just as it should.

However, the only part of this loveliness that sucks deceased walruses is when that deserving person whose life has suddenly opened up to a new, wonderful realm of possibility is someone other than you.

Could be a new niche for Hallmark, don’t you think?

Awake until after 1:30AM this morning.

Up at 6AM, thanks to Offspring.

Out of the house by 8:45AM.

Going non-stop until returning home around 8PM.

Since that time I’ve fallen asleep on the Offspring’s bed and then sat zombie-like in front of this computer. I think I am going to answer a couple of emails and then head for the comfort of my bed. (Believe me, you would too, if you were me.)

Night-night.

*thunk*

1) Yesterday, I caught the Offspring out on the gravel driveway, putting half-baseball-sized rocks in her pants.

Nope, no clue here, either.

2) I have finally fished/cut bait and bought myself a brand spankin’ new computer. Now I will finally be able to do things like update my @#^$!@#$ website and burn CDs and things. I can’t wait! According to an email, the order has been processed and the machine should arrive sometime between the 25th and 28th. I am very excited, but at the same time am reeling from the “sticker shock” (I hate dropping big bundles of cash like that, when I don’t necessarily have big bundles to drop — yanno?).

Anyway. I have work to do, so I must be on it. It’s also *freezing* outside (10C this morning) so it’s a good day to be indoors. I think I may have to make more coffee…
