And Picture #2 For Now…

Thursday, September 29th, 2005

This one shows you the completed floor. Pretty damned snazzy, if you ask me. It does look a little darker in the photo than in real life. I don’t know how much of my completed Den of Sin I want to show you, so I’ll ponder that before I take any more photos. And besides, everything’s a mess in here right now, anyway. I still need some storage, so I’ve got paper and junk everywhere. (Which is driving me nuts, frankly.) So we’ll see once the masterpiece is finally finished.

Don’t let me forget to mention the other gorgeous man I saw yesterday, okay? I need to dash here, so there’s no time to write about it now…

The Long-Awaited Pics

Thursday, September 29th, 2005

I know, you’ve all been out there, breathlessly waiting for these pics of my room reno. Start breathing again, because here they are! :)

This first one illustrates the paint job. The feature wall was primed, then painted in a kewl dark purple called ‘Xanadu’. I then used the sponging technique to add the light mauvey/violet color of the other three walls on top of the Xanadu. I must say, it looks pretty damned cool.

Those pieces of wood on the left are the window, closet and door frames, which I painted a very pale purple.

More coming! And sorry for the word verification for commenting — damned spammers are a pain in the ass.

I Love School

Wednesday, September 28th, 2005

This is pretty cool. I love being on campus. That way, I can pretend to be 18 again.

However, the instructor’s cute (if already attached), and lemme tell you, the campus security guards I just saw down at the coffee shop were smokin’. Yow.

But this course is going to be good–I can tell. And quite a bit of work. However, my main goal (and the class project that’s worth 50% of our mark) is going to be my website! Whee!

By the course’s end in December, I will finally be online. (Keep the proverbial fingers crossed.)

Oop. Break’s over. Back to ogling.

This is a Test

Tuesday, September 27th, 2005

This is a test.
This is only a test.
If this does not work, you will hear me cursing a blue streak wherever you are.

Whee! It worked!

Welcome to a picture of my summer office.

Note the Vodka cooler on the table. My Muse sometimes needs encouragement.

Why is my UPS/FedEx guy never, ever, hot?

I get semi-regular deliveries–you’d think that at least once in a while they’d send someone studly to do the delivery.

Yes, yes. Get your minds out of the gutter. I know they’re there.

BTW, the writing is going. Sort-of. I’m behind schedule, but time is still flexible enough that I could easily make my deadline as long as I don’t fall too far behind. So that’s okay, I guess.

I’m going to see about posting some pictures of my bedroom reno in here–if I can get the steenkin’ camera to work…

Sorry for the Heinz-57 post. My brain’s pretty mushy today. I think I’m still hungry. However, I don’t think I can sneak the Pringles tin out of the cupboard without being spotted by at least one member of the household… *sigh* Oh, well.

There Is Too Much; Lemme Summup

Saturday, September 24th, 2005

1. Am MOVED, dammit. Finally. Still have to do the curtains for the window and the closet, as well as put together my headboard, but I’m IN. And I can sleep in my new domain tonight. Computer should be hooked up by Monday at the latest. (Gotta go buy some cable.)

2. Did write yesterday. Rearranged story to suit new plot twists and divided what I had into appropriate chapters. Will push on tomorrow, I hope.

3. Am no longer feeling quite like death warmed over. More like fatally lukewarm. This, too, shall pass, I suppose. V. good.

4. Still not King.*

*Gold star for you if you know where this is from. Hehehe.

Tick Tock Tick Tock

Thursday, September 22nd, 2005

Okay. I’m under deadline, here. I’m off to write like a madwoman while I’ve got a couple of quiet hours available here in the house.

I don’t know what to do with myself with all this quiet.

Will let you know how things go. Keep all yer extremities crossed for me, wouldja?

The Fine Line Between Genius and Madness

Sunday, September 18th, 2005

I’m on the genius side, of course.

But I’m still brilliant. Brilliant!

I was hanging laundry out on the line this morning when I was struck by an idea such as a genius might have. I added a whole new twist to one story that I’ve slowly been plotting. (It’s quite a ways from completion, this one. On the back burner, so to speak. But still!) I was pondering various miscellenia and my brain suddenly went, “Hold on a tick. This would work perfectly in that story!”

I love hanging laundry out for this very reason. I don’t have to *think* about what I’m doing, so my brain can burble away on any number of things. Besides, it’s quiet outside, and nobody usually bothers me. It’s a good 20 minutes of blessed solitude. :)

After my revelation, my hands were literally shaking with excitement. I had to rush to hang the rest of the undies, just so I could get back inside and type up my extra notes.

I know I’m leaving you hanging on this, but you’ll hear about it eventually. I guar-an-tee it.

As “Hannibal” Smith might say, “I love it when a plan comes together!”

Taking the Pledge

Sunday, September 18th, 2005

All right. Life’s been more fun than a barrel of monkeys on crack, but I thought I’d better get my ass in here to let you all know I’m still alive–and to confirm that yes, the kid’s first day went okay after all.

Although, in contemplation, I shoulda kept my mouth shut so that I could have had some Mounties here to play with… No, not your offering, Kate. But thanks anyway.

So yes, the kid survived (though she hugged me really, really tightly when she got off the bus at the end of the day…), and survived well enough to excitedly ask me, first thing the next morning, “Do I go to school today?”

Day Two went even more smoothly–in fact, I was calm enough that I was even able to go run some errands in the morning. I had considered writing in the afternoon, but got distracted by the evil demon named TV. (Quiet house + Satellite Dish = EVIL. In retrospect, too, can Miami Vice be any cheesier?? I’m so disappointed, because I loved that show once upon a time…)

This weekend has been shot, as the Mater and Pater are away, and I can’t move my furniture into the new bedroom all by myself. So the room still has to wait. However, during my errand-running on Friday, I purchased the material to make a curtain for my closet in lieu of the ugly bi-fold doors currently in place. It’s really rather cool and the color almost matches the paint on the three walls.

My new desk is here and is currently in pieces. Other than that, there’s only the closet area left to do of the flooring, and my room will be ready for habitation!

It’s a good thing, too. My patience levels seem to be at an all-time low. I want *my* computer set up on *my* desk so I can leave it on all day and be logged onto the internet, without having to worry about people walking in the room or others wanting their turn online. It’s one of the reasons my blog entries are about as exciting as raw halibut–by the time I get to log on in the evening, my poor, struggling, lone braincell has just about had the bisquit.

Anyway. Before I ramble questionably onwards, I should reference this post’s title. I’m publicly announcing that I have a goal of sending out a submission just before the end of the month. I’m putting this news out into the world to make myself accountable to you, Faithful Reader.

The plan is to complete the novella this coming week, have it critted early next week, make the changes and submit it possibly during the middle of the last week of the month.

I hereby invite you all to kick me soundly in the ass. (Of course, if I vanish for several days, you’ll send the Mounties after me, which, frankly, is a win-win situation no matter how you butter your bread.) *eg*

At this point, I’m going to shut up and go to bed. It’s pushing 11PM and I’m just tired. See you all on the flip side…

Personal, Non-Writing Related Gak

Thursday, September 15th, 2005

I’m a mess. I’ve even got the requisite post-bawling headache to prove it.

I just put my sweet, adorable little munchkin on the school bus for the very first time. Logically, I know she’ll be just fine, and in fact, she’s going to come home this afternoon so wildly excited about everything she got to do… but at this point in the morning, it doesn’t make me feel any better. :/ She didn’t cling, either. She climbed right up the steps like a trouper. I’m so proud of her!

My only consolation is I managed to keep from sobbing until after she was on the bus and it had started to drive away. At least that way, she wouldn’t see me.

Let’s see if I get *anything* accomplished today. *snort*

If you believe that, I’ve got a lovely bridge to sell you…
