Clan Starr attended a family wedding this past weekend.

I would like to know just WHY I feel totally hungover, even though I had a total of ONE half glass of wine and ONE Screwdriver throughout the entire evening. On top of that, I continuously drank glass after glass of water. And finally, I got about seven hours of sleep.

Instead of feeling reasonably normal (whatever that is), I feel like I’ve been run over by a Mack Truck. It’s just not fair. Maybe it’s just a function of getting frickin’ old. *sigh*

Whatever it is, I am going to bed at 8:00 in the evening because I just can’t stay upright any longer.

And The Countdown Begins…

What are YOU doing to celebrate the end of a decade?

We’re hangin’ out with some great friends, eating lots, laughing lots, and playing lots of Rock Band on the Wii. Sounds like a whole lot of fun to me!

Whatever you do, stay safe, don’t drink and drive, and definitely find someone to smooch at midnight!

See you next year, gang…

Life’s Crazy; Gotta Dash!

Friday, June 19th, 2009

Well, no writing steamy lesbian sex scenes for me today (at least, I can’t see it happening, what, with everything else on the to-do list…).

Instead, it’s CostCo, Sears, gym for me, swimming for the Offspring, bringing the Offspring to the Mater and Pater’s, grabbing a bite to eat, then off to our “Girls’ Night Out” event for the group of MILFs that we are. Hehehe.

(Oh, it’s not that scandalous… we’re going bowling. Although who knows what we might plan for a future GNO event?!)

Don’t worry, B.E., we’ll forego the male strippers. This time. ;)

Today, I’m Not Old

Friday, May 8th, 2009

And neither am I a man.

Thank you, Monty Python, for reaffirming for me that no, thirty-seven is not old.

Hippo Bird Dog, Two Mee! Raise a glass, y’all!

(For those who want to entertain themselves with the entire clip, moistened bints and all, here’s the full scene…Shut up! SHUT UP! Bloody peasant…!)

(Not A) Desperate Housewife

Monday, March 30th, 2009

So a little birdie has told me that I am going to some “pretentious” Goth club Friday evening, for a friend-of-a-friend’s birthday.

Kool. I’m down with that. I haven’t had my ears bleed thanks to deafening music in ages.

But the most frightening question is, what in hell do I wear??

Last time I went clubbing in general, I was two sizes smaller. And those clothes were more for dance clubs than anything else. On top of all that, I don’t even know what’s de rigeur nowadays on the Goth scene. Anyone? Bueller??

I suppose I could do a quick thrift-store run to see what I can find, but with all the other expenses right now, I’m not up for too much extra expenditure. Yanno?

Huh. Anyway. I guess I’ll come up with something. That’s what I get for tending to dress trampy versus anything else…

Should Auld Acquaintance, And All That

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

It’s been the craziest, busiest Christmas season we’ve had in a long time. I can’t believe we’re finally staring at the end of ‘08.

I hope you all had a good holiday. Looking back, how was ‘08 for you? I can say it was a pretty good year. Productivity-wise, not the greatest, but that’s going to be one of my priorities for ‘09. (Along with wedding-planning and house-hunting. Oy!)

So let’s just say I’m going to do the best I can through the first 6 months of the year… after that, I hope things will settle into some sort of routine where I can definitely crank up production. Y’know?

I’d really like ‘09 to be much more successful in terms of books — and that’s my goal. With a new house, there won’t be much happening in terms of big travel plans, and that’s okay. I hope to be spending time at home, hosting fun barbecues and Wii parties.

Yes, yes. Along with work. :D

So. Clan Starr is gearing up to run some errands, and head to our party location for the night. I hope everyone has a fun, safe evening, and I’ll see you next year! :D

Rain, Rain, Go Away

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

Yesterday the weather was simply gorgeous. We hit almost 30C (over 82F) with sunny skies and a cool breeze. Absolutely fabulous.

Now today–the day Boy Einstein and I are hosting our “Welcome Summer” BBQ–it’s POURING out. And not showing any signs of stopping.

Oh, well. It’ll be indoor fun, instead. And it’s all right–I made a trip to the liquor store yesterday, so frankly, I don’t think anyone is going to care about the rain. (The DDs might, though, but that’s perfectly all right!)

At least the rain has allowed me to take a few chores off my To-Do list–I don’t have to wash the patio furniture now. And we certainly can’t put the roof and mosquito netting on the gazebo. So that’s okay.

I’m not any less busy, though–and speaking of busy, I’d better get cracking on some prep work and inside cleaning.

Hope *your* day is sunny!

Party, Party, Party

Sunday, June 22nd, 2008

Some of you may remember a previous post about Juhannus, or the Finnish Midsummer celebration. The time came again to have yet another par-tay, and this time, it turned out near-perfect. (Only near because Boy Einstein had a previous commitment and wasn’t able to be there.) Let me tell you about it…

Ride ‘Em Cowgirl!

Sunday, May 25th, 2008

It’s not a wedding party weekend unless you get lightly splattered with horseshit.

No, you probably don’t want to know. Although despite all that, it was an awesome event by all accounts.

Congrats, Deeter. ;)

*For clarification — no, it wasn’t *at* the wedding. It was while on the “next-day, gift-opening party” hayride today…
