(Along with all the other cool books that CP has released, of course!)

Then, once you’ve bought it and read it, swing back on by and let me know what you think! I love reader feedback!

So…enjoy!

(Whoa…*way* too many exclamation points… Me, excited? Naaaah. Oh, and ps. no new baby yet. :P )

Hey all –

The Carina Press bookstore is now live! Check it out, there are some great books available this week. And while Lovely isn’t available to get your paws on now, you can pre-order it – at a 20% discount! Suh-weet!

So seriously, go take a look-see at what CP has to offer — and fill up your eReader (whatever it is!) with some great stuff to take you through those lazy, hazy summer days in your hammock, frosty beverage in hand… Aah. Sounds absolutely perfect, don’t you think??

If you go here, you’ll get a chance to see the cover art and read the blurb for my June Carina Press book, Lovely.

I still get giddy goosebumps every time I see that cover…

Stay tuned, because a book launch contest is coming — but only for Newsletter subscribers! (Check out the box in the sidebar to subscribe!)

The library finally has their copies of the next Dresden Files book, Changes. And what’s more, the website shows that my copy is in transit to my local branch.

Whee! Tomorrow or Friday I shall be nose-deep into Harry’s next adventure… I can’t wait!

New Year’s Idea

Monday, December 28th, 2009

I’m not sure where or why this idea popped into my head, but I am seriously considering making an online list of the books and movies that get read/watched through 2010. Not a critique of each item, no, more just to see what the variety is and how many I get through. (Being up at night nursing will likely give me an opportunity to watch some DVDs of TV shows, at least!)

If I do it, it’ll be an extra page on the sidebar of the blog so you Gentle Readers can see what I’m up to. I may at least give a one-word response (eg. “Recommended” or “Skip” — that sort of thing) in case anyone wants to know how I felt about that particular title.

Of course, this may just be a pipe dream, but I think it might be interesting. I’ve been eyeballing our Zip.ca account (Canuckian version of Netflix) to see what I can add. (By the time we get down the list the baby will likely be here… :P )

Anyhoo. I’ll let you know if/when that page comes to life. In the meantime, there’s another blog post a-brewin’ that I hope to put up before the end of the year.

I Am A Sucker

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

I’ll admit it — I finally gave in to peer pressure (um…not that there was much of that, really) and read Twilight. In essentially two days.

Yeah, I got totally sucked in. And seeing as how I’d seen the movie first, I kinda knew what to expect, but what I didn’t expect was for Meyer to grab me by the throat (heh) and drag me into Bella and Edward’s world. Yes, there’s a healthy dollop of good ol’ teen angst in there (I can skim those parts) and Edward is occasionally a little heavy-handed (not enough to reach the cringe factor, though), but otherwise, it’s a pretty damned good — if fluffy — read. My plan now is to read New Moon before my lady friends and I go to the theatre to watch it. I’d like to experience this one from the other side.

And speaking of experiences, I’m a little sad about missing the Leonid meteor shower last night. Once upon a time I would have set an alarm and gone out to watch it (like I did with the Pater many, many years ago) but nowadays sleep seems to be much, much higher on the priority list.

Anyway. Today is another day, and it’s full of stuff to do. So on with it.

Decisions, Decisions!

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

I went to the library yesterday. They had not one, but TWO books there that I’d requested. The first one is The Time-Traveller’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger, and the second one is An Echo in the Bone by Diana Gabaldon! The last Claire and Jamie novel! W00T! I’ve been waiting for *that* book for ages.*

The thing now is, these two books have other “holds” on them — which means other people are waiting to read them, too. (And I don’t blame them.) My problem is, I have three weeks in which to read two massive tomes (and the Gabaldon is HUGE) and get them finished. Eeep! I guess I’m going to have to get reading! The biggest question I have now is…which one to start first???

Sorry, honey — I’m going to be doing a lot of reading for the next little while… ;)

*Edit: I’ve just been doing some website reading — this ISN’T the last Claire and Jamie book?? Well, bust my buttons! Who knew? I can’t believe there’s more to come…!

What’s A Paperless Office??

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

I’m sitting here, surrounded by paper at the moment, attempting to put together a grant application for the Canuckian government — in the hopes of getting some supplemental money for subsistence costs.

In other words, so I don’t have to worry about extra cash to buy groceries, and so I can continue to stay at home and slog away at this so-called writing gig. :P

So as I said, I’m up to my eyeballs. The envelope has to be postmarked by October 1st (I know, I’m such a procrastinator!) so I’ve got to get it to the post office by Thursday. I have no idea if an erotica writer can get grant money, but hey — all they can say is “no”. And all it takes is a few hours of my time to put all of this together. Yanno?

Anyhoo. Just letting you know what’s up at Casa Starr. I’ll be getting back into the swing of the book ASAP.

I’m also considering resubbing Lovely (you guys remember that one?) to another e-book pub. I think I may give it a read, tidy it, and see if I can find it a new home. Wish me luck!

Review Time!

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

Hey gang –

The reviews are slowly starting for Sweet Tart! I just got a nice one from Vee at Night Owl Romance, who gave the story a 4.25 out of 5! It says, in part:

Sweet Tart takes a fun idea and plays with it. Abbie and Seb are spurned into sex acts by the commands printed on candy hearts. Obviously, they have no power against the sugar deity and must do what it says. Reading it was as fun as eating candy, but less filling.
