2015 Horoscope

Thursday, January 1st, 2015

Just finding a place to put this. Don’t judge.

Home is where the action is. Jupiter is in Leo, your fourth house of home, family and emotional foundations. Your household becomes a hive of inspiration and bountiful growth. You could become a parent or adopt a pet.

You might set up a home-based business, create a yoga and meditation area, and even tackle home renovation or ownership. Sensual Tauruses love to eat, and you could get into cooking, dehydrating and juicing. The Apr. 4 total lunar eclipse puts a spotlight on your habits and well-being.

Meantime, structured Saturn spends the next three years in Sagittarius, your eighth house of healing. It’s time to dive deep and deconstruct any emotional blocks, perhaps working with a therapist or coach. This house rules intimacy and sex, so learn to be emotionally vulnerable.

A joint business venture, real estate or an investment could pay off, but you must take a slow and steady approach.

Poppin’ Tags (aka Actually Legit Thrift-Store Shopping)

Tuesday, February 5th, 2013

Yo. ‘Sup?

All right, now that I’ve gotten that out of my system, on to today’s crack-a-lackin’ post.

The awesome folks at Young House Love issued a great challenge recently, based on the Macklemore & Lewis song I posted yesterday. You can go here to see the Thrift Store Challenge details. BFF Rella said, in a moment of sheer genius, “Hey! We should do the Thrift Store Challenge!”

And because I’m cool like that I said “Yeah!”

So. Follow me below the fold to see how the challenge turned out!

My New Favourite Song

Monday, February 4th, 2013

Beware. This Macklemore & Ryan Lewis song is abso-frickin’-lutely NSFW. And if it IS safe at your work, man, you’ve got quite the job.

Anyway. What does this song have to do with anything?

Oh, you’ll see, peeps. You’ll see. Stay tuned!

Back To Work

Monday, June 25th, 2012

The weekend was essentially a giant WASH in terms of productivity. We had multiple birthday party-type celebrations (including one for Ms. Junior Peanut who is now TWO! Eep!), our (almost) annual Finnish Midsummer extended-family celebration called Juhannus, lots of BBQ, and I managed to finish up my new front-yard flower garden.

But did I work? Uh, that’d be a no. Instead, I ate enough food for about three people, got wind-burnt, sauna-ed and swam, and generally had a rollicking good time.

Perhaps that was best, after all. I may be exhausted, but it was a couple of days where my mind was taken off my work. I’ll have to slave like a dog to reach my last couple of deadlines, but I’m certainly going to do it. It *can* be done.

All right, Monday. I’m here. Are you ready for me?

Dear Santa

Thursday, December 8th, 2011

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been asked a few times as of late, what do I want for Christmas?

So here’s my answer (or, my answer at 7am on this frigid morning, at least):

Dear Santa,
I would like a large box of energy for Christmas. As well, could I please get some motivation and some inspiration, too? An update on the Muse would be nice, because the beeyotch isn’t being very helpful at this particular moment. Oh, and maybe some pain relief for my wrist. The carpal tunnel thing isn’t working for me.

Finally, Santa, if none of this is possible, then how about four months in Hawaii? Or the Bahamas, I’m not picky.

What do youse guys want for the holidays?

Who Do You Want To Be?

Tuesday, October 25th, 2011

Our local radio station posed a question yesterday that got me thinking: If money was no object, who would you dress up as for Hallowe’en?

Well. Let’s just say that a few ideas instantly came to mind. What about something fun, like Alicia Silverstone’s Felicity Shagwell from the Austin Powers movies?

Isn’t that such a great costume? I love it. How much fun would that be?

And then my next thought was, what about something wicked like Susan Sarandon’s Queen Nerissa from Enchanted? (I tried to find a picture of her KICK-ASS boots, but didn’t have any luck during my fast image search.) Now *that’s* one totally bitchin’ costume!

But honestly, I have to admit that my very first choice of ultimate costume would have to be Jennifer Connelly’s Sarah from Labyrinth. I’ve always *loved* everything about this gown — her hair, jewelry, makeup, the whole works. LOVE. IT. To be able to do that exactly? A dream come true.

Of course I’ll probably think of many others as the day goes on, including Halle Berry’s Catwoman (whew!) and Liv Tyler’s Arwen from Lord of the Rings, and God only knows who else.

So. My question to you today is the same one: If money was no object and you could get whatever you wanted, who would YOU dress up as for Hallowe’en? Inquiring minds want to know!

Bacardi Breezers - Tropical Orange Smoothie flavour are awesome.

That is all I have to say.

(Yeah, I know they taste like soda pop — that’s why I like them. I prefer my alcohol to *not* taste like alcohol. It’s much more enjoyable that way!

Okay, so apparently I had more to say. Not much, though.

Oh, and by the way, I hate mosquitoes with a living, breathing, seething passion. Damned bloodsucking bitches. Grr.)

I Am In Love

…with Pinterest.

(Yes, B.E., with you too!)

It’s one of the coolest sites I’ve ever seen. Think of it as a virtual “pinboard” where you can place images of neat stuff you find on the internet. It can be anything — home decor, crafts, food, “dream” items, beautiful images — you name it. The neat thing is when you “pin” the image to your board, the pin also grabs the source code for the place where you got the image in the first place. This way, you can go back and see the details (instructions, tutorial, where-to-buy, whatever) behind that image.

I guess it’s popular; there’s a waiting list to sign up for your own Pinterest account. I’ve put my name in for one — I just hope it’s not ages to get one. Anyway, even if you don’t have an account, you can browse what people have pinned to their boards, and various categories. I have to say, in a couple of sessions of browsing, I’ve found more cool stuff than in days’ worth of surfing regular craft sites, etc.

So for those who love beautiful images, design, creativity — this site is for you. Just don’t hate me when you lose track of time (speaking of time sucks…!)!

Happy browsing!

Friday Footage — Colin & Brad!

I am in total FanGirl mode today, gang — I just purchased tickets to see these guys:

(No, not in Toronto, but up here in Northern Canuckland. This is just the best promo spot I could find.)

I am so psyched! I’m a HUGE Whose Line is it Anyway? fan, and these guys were two of my favourites. My dream lineup would also include Tony Slattery, Greg Proops, Ryan Stiles, Josie Lawrence and Steven Frost. Mike McShane, too. Oh, and Steven Fry. Ha! Oh, just bring ‘em ALL back! What the hell!

*Happy Snoopy dance*

So the current scuttlebutt around celeb-land–

*bwahaha! Sorry, that makes me sound like I actually know something…*

–is that My George is doing a remake of this song. I’m looking forward to it because I like this one, and I want to see what he does with it. Should be fun. In the meantime, here’s a trip back in time to Uni (for me, anyway). Enjoy and have a fun weekend!*

*I shall. ‘Tis ol’ buddy Rella’s birthday, and I’m actually going out to a pub! Can you believe it? I’m not sure I can…!
